Companies like Imperial Metals have exposed the weakness of B.C.’s antiquated mining laws. After the Mount Polley mine disaster, the public was left subsidizing the cleanup while the company went back to full operation — with no charges, fines or penalties. That is unacceptable in the 21st century.
For too long corporations have treated B.C. as a dumping ground for toxic waste — and our politicians have let them get away with it.
Mining companies take the wealth out from under our feet. Then taxpayers are left to clean up their mess. We’re getting sick of it.
Together we can pressure the whole industry to clean up its act.
