Did you know that 90 per cent of the so-called ‘natural’ gas piped into B.C. buildings comes from fracking?

The gas we use for heating and cooking is a major source of climate pollution in our province – and it’s making people sick. Living in a home with a gas stove increases a child’s risk of asthma as much as living with a cigarette smoker.

Powering our homes, schools and workplaces with clean electricity instead of dirty gas makes a lot of sense in a province like B.C. While it’s going to take time to renovate all of our existing buildings, keeping gas out of the new ones being built seems like a no-brainer. So why is the government still allowing tens of thousands of new buildings each year to be hooked up to fossil gas?
