BC voters have a chance to make history this election and help protect the environment by voting YES to BC-STV.

We can make an historic change and adopt Canada’s first fair and proportional electoral system by voting yes in the provincial referendum.

By voting yes you’ll ensure that your vote really counts and the issues that matter to you won’t be ignored any longer.

BC-STV (Single Transferable Vote) is especially important for environmental issues.  The current “first-past-the-post” electoral system allows governments and candidates to ignore environmental issues and entire blocks of voters.  BC-STV will weaken party leaders stranglehold on elected members and encourage more multi-party collaborative solutions to climate change and other environmental challenges.

Our current system is broken

Under our current ‘first-past-the-post’ system thousands of votes are wasted every election.  People are forced people to vote strategically – instead of voting for what they actually believe in.  Hundreds of thousands of people vote for parties that aren’t then represented in the legislature.  The fact is our current system isn’t fair – but we can change it for the better.

BC-STV electoral reform is just the fix we need.  It means more accountability and fairer election results.  That means a bigger voice for voters and for the environment.
