Become a Vote 16 BC Ambassador!

We’re looking for students who want to help lower the voting age to 16 in B.C. Sign up to join our High School Ambassador Program to promote the campaign and spread the word!

We need to build momentum for lowering the voting age in every corner of the province – from youth and adults alike – and demonstrate public support to decision-makers. High school ambassadors are essential to making this happen.

The responsibilities of this position will vary based on your strengths, interests and community. With guidance and resources from both the Vote 16 BC team and Dogwood, you can collect signatures, host events, work on social media, host fundraisers, run competitions – and more! There may also be opportunities to talk to journalists and MLAs.

If you’re new to organizing and activism, no worries at all. There are no hard skill prerequisites to join – training and support will be provided, and everyone is welcome!

A Vote 16 BC ambassador is:

  • passionate about climate change and the environment, social justice, human rights, civil liberties, youth activism, advocacy and change-making in your community.
  • a creative self-starter who works well individually or in a team.
  • someone who wants to connect with like-minded youth all over B.C.
  • looking for an opportunity to beef up their resume (and scholarship applications!) with experience and training in organizing, campaigning, advocacy, politics, government relations, media relations, communications, event planning, petition canvassing and much more!
  • over the age of 12 and currently studying at the high school level in B.C. (homeschoolers and non-traditional schools welcome!)
  • available to volunteer 1-3 hours each week.

Vote 16 BC is committed to an inclusive and diverse campaigning and organizing program. We strive not to discriminate based on race, nationality, ethnicity, religion, political belief, age, gender, sexual orientation or class. We encourage everyone to apply, especially people from an equity seeking group.

Thank you to everyone who applied! We are no longer accepting applications for the winter of 2021.

Don’t worry! There will be more opportunities in the future – keep checking back.
