MLA Bruce Ralston Now
First Elected: 2005
Next Scheduled Election: 2021
What has the NDP government announced?
- The province of B.C. is seeking intervenor status in the federal lawsuits against Kinder Morgan’s pipeline approval and has hired a legendary Indigenous-rights lawyer, Thomas Berger, to lead the file
- The new B.C. government made First Nations’ rights and title a priority, using the above-mentioned counsel to help them hold up their end of the bargain of what they hope will be a true nation to nation relationship
- The provincial permits Kinder Morgan needs have not been issued, and there’s little hope they’ll have shovels in the ground for their supposed September start date
- Kinder Morgan needs those environmental permits in order to start construction, and would be breaking the law if they started digging up the ground on any public land in B.C..
Call Bruce Ralston’s Office to Say “Thank You”
Constituency Office Phone Number: (604) 586-2740
CALLER: Hi, this is ________, a constituent of Bruce Ralston’s at [your part of the riding].
CALLER: I’m calling to say “thank you” to Bruce and the NDP caucus for their position on the Kinder Morgan pipeline and tanker plan.
You stood up for BC instead of siding with a Texas-based company.
We understand the pressure you all must have been under to take a different position. Building this pipeline would be terrible for our health and safety. It would pollute greenhouse gases and threaten our drinking water, salmon and marine ecosystems. You’ve made the right call. Please pass along my thanks.
STAFFER: Thanks for letting us know, I’ll pass along your thanks to the Minister.
