A Globe and Mail story this morning announced that Chinese, Korean, and other oil companies are close to signing commitments to Enbridge’s Northern Gateway project.

Said Bank of Montreal Chief Economist Sherry Cooper yesterday: “We must export oil to China…the sooner the better…For sure, the U.S. isn’t going to like it…Butthat’s good, because it gives us more leverage with the U.S…it makes it more difficult for the U.S. to threaten us withcomments about dirty oil.”

I for one don’t appreciate British Columbia’s salmon rivers and coasts being traded for “leverage” that the oil industry can use to fight progressive climate change legislation!

Neither did thousands of other people in this province and across Canada: In response to this story British Columbians and Canadians sent in over 12,000 individual e-letters to representatives and companies in Alberta’s oil patch!
